"Khuvsgul Lake" & "Gobi Sand" Tour

Day 1



Baga Gazariin Chuluu





Baga Gazariin Chuluu is 1751-meter high granite stone mountains in the territory of Adaatsag soum, Dundgobi aimag, is another place with unique scenery that many tourists compare with lunar scenes. The mountain contains remains of old temples. They are not only rich in minerals, crystals but also eyes spring, old stone temple ruins related with 17th century. We can see there a deep narrow hole. The stagnating rainwater could treat the ocular illnesses. A little ladle has been put on the rock for the people to wash their eyes with the sacred water.



Day 2



White Stupa





The scarp of "White Stupa" is located in Ulziit soum of Dundgobi province.It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. The cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure.



Day 3



Vulture Valley





Gobi Gurban Saikhan Mountain National Park, hiking in "Vulture Valley". The Gobi Gurban Saikhan Mountain is a beautiful national park itself rich in wild life and scenic places. We will walk through the beautiful valley into dephts sheer rock canyon wich accepts no sunlight. Therefore, it has ice until end of July. Golden eagles and very shy wild sheep and ibexes are indigenous to the valley.



Day 4



Khongor Sand Dunes





Our journey will continue to Khongor, the largest sand dunes.The Khongor Sand Dunes that extend along the northern side of Sevrei and Zuulun mountain ranges.
The Khongor Sand Dunes are some of the largest and most impressive white sand dunes in Mongolia.
Also known as the Duut Mankhan( singing dunes ), Khongor Sand Dunes stretches more than 180 km (112 miles) with majestic heights of 15-30 m. The largest dunes are north west of the range up to 800 metres high. You can climb to the top of the sand dunes and slide down : simultaneously the dune begins to make an amazing sound : similar to singing.
From the top of the sand dunes, the view of the desert is awesome.



Day 5



Flaming Cliffs





Bayanzag red sand cliffs, today better known as “flaming cliffs” due to their colours ochre and red, are located about 100 km (62,14 miles) at the northwest of Dalanzadgad. Bayanzag means “rich in saxaul”. This thorny shrub measuring approximately two meters high proliferates in the surroundings and is a good source of food for camels.

This plain has many sedimentary sand cliffs where many dinosaurs’ fossils have been found. In 1922, the palaeontologist Roy Chapman Andrews was the first to discover dinosaurs’ bones and eggs. You can walk around where Dinosaurs once roamed and see saksaul trees and other classic desert vegetation.



Day 6



Ongi Monastery





It is located in Dundgovi province. One of the biggest monasteries in Mongolia, Ongi was founded in 1660 and consisted of two temple complexes on the North and South banks of the Ongi river. The older southern complex consisted of various administrative buildings as well as 11 temples. The northern complex built in the 18th century, consisted of 17 temples -among them one of the largest temples in all Mongolia.



Day 7



Kharkhorum & Erdene Zuu Monastery





Kharkhorum, the symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene-Zuu, the oldest monastery, with 108 stupas, built in 1586. Then visit Kharkhorum museum and see the Great Mongol state period, Stone Age, Bronze Age, Ancient state period halls.



Day 8



Tsenkher Hot Springs





Mongolian most famous hor spring, Tsenkher natural hot spring, is located in south of Tsetserleg soum, in Arkhangai province. Situated between forested hills and breath taking mountains, this hot spring is surrounded by cliffs and rapid rivers. Water from this geological spectacle emerges from the ground at 85.5 celcius degree. ​



Day 9



Taikhar Rock, Horgo Extinct Valcona, Terkh White Lake





Drive to Arkhangai province.Tour to Taikhar Rock that is 18m high cliff of granite.After drive to Khorgo Extinct Volcano and Terkh White Lake.Great white lake is located 2060 metres above the sea level. The lake, birdlife and mountains are now protected within 77,267 hectare Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park. The lake is around 16 km long, east to west, and around 4km-6km wide, north to south. The lake is extremely beautiful with fresh water and rich species of fish and birds.







Day 10



Shine Ider





We will do a full of driving to the Shine ider Village of Khuvsgul province. Further north our route lies through the wooded slopes of Khangai Mountain range and we will see beautiful landscapes of Mongolia.



Day 11 & Day 12



Khuvsgul Lake





The "Khuvsgul Lake" is an extraordinary lake that stretches 136 km deep into the Siberian taiga. In surface area, this is the second-largest lake 2760 sq km in Mongolia, surpassed in size only by Uvs Lake, a shallow, salty lake in the western part of the country. "Khuvsgul Lake" is Mongolia's deepest lake as well as the world's 14th-largest source of fresh water it contains between 1% and 2% of the world's fresh water.



Day 13



Uran Togoo Tulga Uul Nature Reserve





It’s the most beautiful and the most famous volcano of Mongolia. It was active 20 to 25 millions of years ago. You can find an exceptional and plenteous fauna and flora. In effect, the lava that flowed there many thousands of years ago gave way to a very fertile environment. The area is situated in the Khutag-Öndör soum of Bulgan Province. A smaller area was initially protected in 1965. Again in 1995, it was designated as a Natural Monument .



Day 14



Amarbayasgalant Monastery





This monastery is considered to be one of the top three Buddhist institutions in Mongolia, and country's most attractive and intact architectural complex."Amarbayasgalant Monastery" was built between 1727 and 1737 by the Manchu emperor Yongzheng, and dedicated to the great mongolian Buddhist and sculptor Zanabazar, whose mummified body was moved here in 1779. ​​

Drive Back to "Ulaanbaatar"
